Immortality can be a great RP trait to play around with. My recent game had a high diplomacy character with around 26 diplomacy, and the mystic had a base dip stat of 15, so I had no trouble getting immortality through the event chain. It's quite unlikely to succeed but if you have high (20+) stats, and your mystic has a high base stat then you can very well find success here. For the last event chain, most people fail here.
For the second event chain, higher stats help you succeed, its not overly important which option you pick. For the first event chain, you have to pay some money, pick the most expensive option for a higher chance of succeeding. The higher the base stat, at least for me, the more likely the events were to succeed for my character. If its less than 6, the mystic is very likely to be a fraud and you may as well imprison/execute them. Once your councilor finds a mystic, before you click anything check the base stat of the mystic which corresponds with the line you are picking e.g. Also check your council, and make sure the councilor which corresponds with your highest stat has at least 20+, to make sure you successfully find a legit mystic. If your highest stat is around 20+ you have a good chance of succeeding through the events. All stats except for stewardship have an event chain with different missions and mystics. Once you get the initial event, check your highest stat before clicking 'Summon the council'.
